Government stays open — for now
What it doesThis law keeps paying for the federal government at last year’s levels, so it did not shut down when the new budget year started Oct. 1. It is a short-term patch (called a “continuing resolution”) that also keeps programs like flood insurance and WIC nutrition aid running.
How it affects youAnyone who uses federal services or works for the government. If Congress doesn’t pass new funding by Dec. 11, a shutdown is possible again.
